“A Minecraft Movie” hauled in a gaudy $80.6 million in its second weekend in North American theaters, easily blowing away the competition, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

The Warner Bros. film, which stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa and is based on the world’s top-selling video game, has already earned over $550 million worldwide and appears well on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing films of recent years.

Second place went to “The King of Kings,” an animated, faith-based offering from Angel Studios that opened with $19 million, Comscore reported. The film is based on a Charles Dickens story about a boy and his father who explore the life of Christ, and boasts an all-star cast of voice actors including Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, Forest Whitaker, Ben Kingsley and Oscar Isaac, who plays Jesus.

The spy thriller “The Amateur,” starring Rami Malek, opened with $15 million for third place.

Fourth place went to “Warfare,” a drama set in the Iraq war, which opened with $8.3 million, followed by Blumhouse’s horror film “Drop,” which opened with $7.5 million.

Sixth place went to “The Chosen: The Last Supper — Season 5, Part Three,” which grossed $6 million in its first weekend in theaters. The multi-season television series about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth has been hauling in better-than-expected grosses in its big-screen showings.

Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases were “A Working Man” ($3 million), “Disney’s Snow White” ($2.8 million), “The Woman in the Yard” ($2.1 million) and “The Chosen: The Last Supper — Season 5, Part Two” ($932,106).
