‘Big Exchange’ returns – one membership unlocks free access to over 50 San Diego museums

The San Diego Museum Council is inviting local museum lovers to take part in the return of its popular spring program, “The Big Exchange.”
From Thursday through May 18, both new and current museum members can enjoy free admission to over 50 museums across San Diego County.
With one membership card from any participating organization, visitors can explore the county’s whole diverse lineup of aquariums, art galleries, gardens, history exhibits and more. Non-members also have the opportunity to request a temporary Big Exchange Membership Card from a museum of their choice.
Bob Lehman, executive director of the museum council, explains that the exchange invites new members to “test drive” a variety of museums at no cost. Encouraging residents to purchase museum memberships also provides a way to enjoy these cultural institutions year-round.

“As we celebrate San Diego Foundation’s 50th anniversary, we’re proud to sponsor local events that bring our community together,” said Mark Stuart, president and CEO of the foundation, the event’s sponsor. “These gatherings allow us to connect directly with our neighbors and support efforts that align with our vision of just, equitable and resilient communities.”

Please note, though, that Balboa Park Explorer Passes or Go San Diego Cards are not accepted memberships for this program.
