Love comes in all forms, and this February, Sophie’s Gallery is celebrating connection, creativity, and heartfelt expression with Gotta’ Have Heart: Pen Pals.”

The free art show runs all month long at Sophie’s Gallery in Downtown El Cajon, with a public reception on Friday, February 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.

This year’s theme, “Pen Pals,” explores love that transcends distance, brought to life through a stunning collection of hand-painted mailboxes, postcard-inspired landscapes, postage stamp mosaics, digital stamp illustrations, and mixed-media drawings on vintage letters and envelopes.

Visitors can explore the exhibit during gallery hours, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The gift shop will also feature handmade Valentine’s gifts—perfect for picking up something special.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Sophie’s Gallery is a creative space where artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities express themselves through art. The program, run by St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center, offers students hands-on experience in painting, printmaking, jewelry design, mosaics, and more.

Purchasing artwork directly supports the artists and the gallery, with 40% of sales going to the artists and 60% funding supplies and program costs.
