A stroll through secrecy and bloom: La Jolla’s ’26th Annual Secret Garden Tour’ on May 17

It’s back with all its pomp and circumstance.

The La Jolla Historical Society invites you to experience one of the community’s most beloved spring traditions—the 26th Annual Secret Garden Tour of La Jolla, on Saturday, May 17.

For more than two decades, this event has offered a rare glimpse into the private gardens of La Jolla’s most beautiful homes, while also supporting year-round exhibitions and educational programs hosted by the Society.

Though the exact locations remain a closely guarded secret until the day of the tour, this year’s lineup includes six sproperties that showcase La Jolla’s natural beauty, artistic flair, and spectacular views. Each garden will be elevated by the presence of live musicians, plein air painters, and thoughtfully curated outdoor table settings that bring each space to life.

There are two ways to enjoy the tour:

• Self-Guided Tour: Perfect for those who want to explore at their own pace.
• Platinum Tour: A premium experience that includes transportation via docent-led shuttle, a catered lunch, and access to a seventh exclusive garden not open to general attendees.

The Secret Garden Boutique Returns to Wisteria Cottage

Also taking place on May 17 is the Secret Garden Boutique, located at the La Jolla Historical Society’s Wisteria Cottage. Open to the public throughout the day, the boutique features a curated selection of garden accessories, plants, handcrafted gifts, and artwork from local vendors. Guests can also enjoy locally sourced farm-fresh food and participate in a silent auction with unique, one-of-a-kind items up for bid.
