Dog couture takes flight with designer Christiann Moore’s Papillon Style

SAN DIEGO – You could call it prêt-à-pupper.
Fashion designer Christiann Moore recently launched a new product line in Papillon Style, a delightful collection of dog couture that has exceeded her wildest expectations.
It all began when she started an Instagram account for her papillon, Daphne. The account quickly grew to a following of over 3,500 fans. Many of her Instagram buddies started requesting couture dog clothes for their Papillons, so Moore began taking pre-orders, and voilà! a new product line was instantly born.
Currently, there are four styles. The first, one called Ruffle Me, offers a feminine ruffle detail. Moore loves using recycled men’s shirts and has transitioned from using velcro to snaps for the closures.
The second in the product line is Day Dresses, which are made with cotton fabric.
Gala Dresses, the third in the line, are crafted from silk and embellished with jewels. Finally, she offers the Wedding Ensemble, which includes both the dress for the bride and the tuxedo for the groom.
Moore said that she meticulously sews each piece with couture hand-stitching, fine trims, and precise edge stitching. Before launching this dog couture line, she had created two of her own fashion lines: Surf Sunset, featuring pastel colors and neutral colored cotton Lycra leggings, and California Dreamin’, which included sophisticated pants and select tops.
Most recently, she showcased an evening wear collection at Vancouver Fashion Week that was well received.
Papillon translates to “butterfly” in French, and one of her dresses even featured butterfly fabric. Moore said that she has a passion to be the best she can be in the fashion world and pours that dedication into her dog couture creations. The collection has been warmly received and appreciated by dog lovers everywhere. She offers four different sizes to fit a variety of pups.
