Fright for Future returns to SD: A haunted maze with purpose

Yes, it’s still September and the weather is warm, but Halloween is just around the corner—and in San Diego, that means thrills, chills, and a maze of “true terrors.”
Fright for Future, one of the city’s top haunted attractions, returns this year for its fourth season, combining spine-tingling scares with lessons about pressing issues affecting people, animals, and the planet. The maze runs over two weekends: Oct. 17–19 and Oct. 24–26, at 37ECB, 3720 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego.
The immersive experience features 20 unique exhibits with animated props, lighting, and spooky sound effects. Adults, teenagers, families, and children ages 10 and up can navigate terrifying scenes while learning about human rights, animal welfare, and environmental challenges. Each exhibit also connects attendees with local nonprofits, providing resources and ways to get involved.
Weekend hours are:
- Friday, Oct. 17 & 24: 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 18 & 25: 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 19 & 26: 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, with free entry for students with ID. Reservations and more information are available at frightforfuture.org.
Fright for Future attracts hundreds each year. By combining entertainment with education, the maze encourages participants to reflect, learn, and take meaningful action in their community while enjoying a thrilling Halloween experience, according to a news release.
