Grossmont College Theatre Arts opens season with comedy and adventure

Laughter, mischief, and a touch of adventure take the stage this fall as the Grossmont College Theatre Arts Department kicks off its 2025–26 season at the Stagehouse Theatre. The lineup includes the comic favorite The Servant of Two Masters, Oct. 2–4 and 9–11, followed by the family-friendly The Adventures of Shelby the Viking Oct. 17–18.

The Servant of Two Masters, translated by AJ Knox, adapted by Samantha Ginn and Knox, and directed by Geno Carr, brings fresh energy to a centuries-old comedy. The play follows Truffaldino, a servant juggling two masters without being found out, in a whirlwind of slapstick, disguises, and nonstop twists. Carr calls the new adaptation “painfully funny” and promises plenty of laughs for audiences.

The cast includes Lizzie Cisneros, Antonio Cobian, Sarah Grubstad, Devon Guevara, Kaylee Kloberdanz, Tori Mitchell, Andrew Nagby, Knight Padillo, Emma Sanabria-Fandino, and Soshie Wisner.

The season continues with The Adventures of Shelby the Viking by Omri Schein, directed by Shana Wride and supported by the Rice Family Foundation. The story follows Shelby, a Viking-in-training sent to slay a dragon but more interested in becoming a pastry chef. Along the way, Shelby encounters mythological creatures and learns the value of being true to yourself, according to a news release.

The cast features Cisneros, Mitchell, Nagby, Prizzy Rogers, Zen Schenkelberg, Starr Spencer, and Wisner.

Performances are staged at the Stagehouse Theatre inside the Performing and Visual Arts Center (Building 22), 8800 Grossmont College Drive, El Cajon. Free guest parking is available in Lot #1 South during shows.
