Iconic British Time Traveler Dr. Who to Be Featured in New Exhibit at Comic-Con Museum

A famous doctor will be paying a house call to the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park.
Dr. Who, an iconic pop culture character who has endured for decades, will be the focus of a new, yearlong, exhibit at the museum.
Museum officials announced the exhibit Thursday, the first full day of Comic-Con.
“Dr. Who Worlds of Wonder: Where Science Meets Fiction” will make its U.S. premiere March 15, 2025 and run through March 14, 2026.
The exhibit will focus on the main character in a British science fiction television show that has been airing since 1963. Dr. Who uses a time travelling spaceship to help people and combat villains.
Different actors have portrayed Dr. Who over the decades and the exhibit will look at the different versions of the character.
It will also examine how Dr. Who has inspired aspiring scientists and explore the science in the show, including the theory of time travel.
“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Who at the museum,” said Vanessa Hamilton, brand director of Dr. Who for BBC studios.
Hamilton said the exhibit will be for everyone, from the die-hard fan to people who’ve never seen the television show.
Museum officials also announced another exhibit opening soon, “The Myth of Superheroes.” The exhibit is scheduled to open September 21.
The traveling exhibit started in Italy and will look at the links between modern superheroes and the myths and traditions of historic cultures, like ancient Greece and Rome.
“The common threads linking the past, present and the future of superheroes,” said exhibit curator Federico Montani.
The exhibit will feature 400 objects, including posters, original drawings and action figures.
“This is different than what we’ve done in the past,” said museum executive director Rita Vandergaw.
