Guitarist Samantha Fish brings her Paper Doll World Tour to The Sound on November 13.
Fish is one of the hottest guitarists on the planet at the moment among the top blues players today, but as evidenced by her current opening number, a cover of The MC5’s rocker, “Kick Out The Jams,” her sound is actually much more expansive.
Fish is on the road promoting her latest album, “Paper Doll,” with half of the new release tracks in the show’s set list. Longtime fans will need the new songs in their collection ASAP, but live is where her playing truly shines. Fish always delivers an adrenaline-packed, high-energy show.

Acclaimed saxophonist Kenny Gorelick, aka Kenny G, performs at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on November 7.
The Grammy-winning musician and Humphreys have a long history together. Gorelick has performed at the venue numerous times over the years, with part of his 1989 multi-platinum-selling album, “Kenny G Live,” being recorded there. His current tour’s career-spanning set list includes choice covers by the likes of Jobim and the Average White Band, but anyone who enjoys the sounds of contemporary jazz will find much to appreciate from Kenny G’s performance.

Aaron Lind Organ Trio
The Aaron Lind Organ Trio performs a free lunchtime show at the Athenaeum on November 10.
Specializing in instrumental, 1960s-inspired jazz, the combo is led by excellent guitarist Aaron Lind, joined by keyboardist John Opferkuch and drummer Justin Joyce. The band’s set list features songs from a diverse group of tunesmiths that might include Curtis Mayfield’s “Move On Up” or Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” all imbued with a ’60s groove that will make attendees want to get up and dance.
Jazz aficionados will love this concert, but rock fans who appreciate the likes of The Zombies and Paul Weller will also want to hear Lind’s organ trio.

Oasiz
Oasis is currently the hottest band on the planet, selling out stadiums worldwide, so it’s only natural that there would be numerous tribute bands on the club circuit.
One of the best, Oasiz, will be performing at Winston’s on November 14. An all-star combo led by guitarist Scott Samuels (Solitary Diamonds) and featuring bassist Chris Iandolo (Scotty Thunders, and The Dollbreakers), the band’s extra authentic sound comes via singer Liam Wilkes, a native of Oasis’s hometown of Manchester, England.
Oasiz performs essentially a greatest hits set full of such sing-along mega-hits as “Live Forever” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” with a sound so accurate that they are just about the next best thing to the real deal.

Mambo Orchestra
Mission Bay High School’s Mambo Orchestra will perform at Dizzy’s on November 19 under the direction of Jean-Paul Balmat.
The night will focus on Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban grooves, with an appearance by Grammy-nominated flautist, composer, and arranger John Calloway.
San Diego has an amazing jazz scene, and Mission Bay’s music program is a big part of the reason why. The school has turned out generations of world-class players. Latin jazz fans will want to hear the award-winning Mambo Orchestra, but jazz fans in general will enjoy hearing some of the community’s rising top young musical talent.

The Flamin’ Groovies
Iconic Bay Area rock ‘n’ rollers The Flamin’ Groovies stop in at The Casbah on November 20.
Still fronted by guitarist Cyril Jordan, the band have long been considered power-pop pioneers, inspiring a legion of bands in their wake and offering up some of the genre’s most covered songs, including the likes of such ’70s era classics as “Shake Some Action,” “Jumpin’ In The Night,” and “You Tore Me Down.”
They haven’t released an album since 2017’s “Fantastic Plastic,” but no matter, whatever Jordan decides to include in the set list will be sure to thrill die-hard Flamin’ Groovies fans.
