A restaurant in La Jolla has earned Michelin bragging rights.

Ambrogio by Acquerello, a partnership between San Diego-based Ambrogio15 Restaurant Group and the Michelin-starred Acquerello in Italy, was included in the Michelin Guide California for July.

It’s the only San Diego County restaurant to make the cut in this round of selections.

Michelin described Ambrogio by Acquerello as a “friendly, cozy La Jolla offshoot of a celebrated restaurant outside of Milan (that) has a vibe somewhere between humble and sophisticated, for a comfortable experience that’s none too precious.”

The restaurant, according to its website, “offers a unique eight-course tasting menu experience centered around what we call the “New Italian Cuisine.”

Michelin in particular noted the eatery’s green tagliolini with spring onion, mushroom and nori, or crisp fried squab breast with a charred radicchio and red wine sauce. The guide also pointed to their Italian wines and sakes, saying they “will make fine pairings.”

Michelin added 13 restaurants in all to its California guide, with six in Los Angeles and three in San Francisco.
