North Coast Repertory Theatre launches its 43rd season with a world premiere comic mystery, three San Diego premieres and a Tony Award-winning musical.

The season, which begins in September, also includes a classic drama, an autobiographical play, a family comedy, a new Hercule Poirot mystery and a look at the Asian immigration experience.

“This may well be one of the most expansive seasons we’ve ever attempted at North Coast Rep,” said artistic director David Ellenstein.

In his dual role as artistic director of Laguna Playhouse, Ellenstein also said that three of this season’s plays will transfer to the Orange County venue after completing their runs at North Coast Rep in Solana Beach.

The season begins with Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge, as tensions rise and secrets unravel in a tight-knit Italian-American community in 1950s Brooklyn. Directed by Ellenstein, the show runs from Sept. 11 to Oct. 6.

The remainder of the season includes:

  • Oct. 23 – Nov. 17 – Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a San Diego premiere comedy that unfolds within the confines of a working-class family home in the 1970s. Directed by Jenny Sullivan.
  • Dec. 12– Dec. 29 – 2 Pianos, 4 Hands, with Richard Todd Adams and Matthew McGloin, returns. The musical comedy explores a duo’s would-be careers as concert pianists as they play everything from Bach to Billy Joel. Directed by Tom Frey.
  • Jan. 8 – Feb. 2, 2025 – The Heart Sellers, another San Diego premiere, follows a group of Asian women navigating the challenges of living in a new country. Written by Lloyd Suh and directed by Kat Yen.
  • Feb. 26 – March 23, 2025 – What the Constitution Means to Me, by playwright Heidi Schreck. The Tony-nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist explores the U.S. Constitution’s profound significance in contemporary America. Directed by Shana Wride.
  • April 16 – May 11, 2025 – Peril in the Alps, a world premiere Hercule Poirot comic mystery based in part on Poirot Investigates by Agatha Christie. The sequel to Murder on the Links will be directed by Steven Dietz.
  • June 4-29, 2025 – Birthday Candles, a San Diego premiere by Noah Haidle, a play that celebrates five generations, many dreams and one cake baked over a century. Directed by Ellenstein.
  • July 16 – Aug. 10, 2025 – A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, the winner of the 2014 Tony for Best Musical, a musical comedy about a charming man’s quest for an inheritance that will change his life forever. Directed by Noelle Marion.

The seven-play season is available for subscriptions. 2 Pianos, 4 Hands is not a part of the subscription package; those tickets, which start at $62, must be purchased separately.
