An online fundraiser has been launched in support of the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus ahead of a cross-border collaboration by the group in July.

A chorus board member, Layla Jaffe, is seeking $2,500 for the organization via a GoFundMe.com page.

In her fundraising pitch, she called the chorus “an integral part of the San Diego artistic community and a dynamic force for social change.”

“This chorus connects communities and provides a haven for all while never shying away from social activism …” Jaffe wrote. “Any donation allows the SDGMC to continue its vital work and supports its significant artistic and social impact in San Diego and beyond.”

The chorus is planning a trio of upcoming concerts with Coro Gay de Tijuana and Coro Gay Ciudad de México. One will take place at Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) on July 27, while two are set for the downtown Balboa Theatre from July 29-30.

The shows are called “Stronger Together,” or “Más Fuertes Juntos” in Spanish.
