Poway Symphony Orchestra to Kick Off 21st Season with ‘A Trip to Spain’

The Poway Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2024-2025 concert season, transporting concertgoers to Spain and beyond with a blend of classical masterpieces and exceptional solo performances.
Audience members can look forward to a diverse program including iconic symphonies, overtures and concertos on select Sunday afternoons at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.
The 21st season will open with “A Trip to Spain” on Nov. 17, featuring the Romeros in Joaquín Rodrigo’s “Concierto Andaluz” for Four Guitars and Orchestra. Based in San Diego, the Romeros are often hailed as “The Royal Family of the Guitar.” The concert will also include Berlioz’s “Le Corsaire Overture” and selections from Bizet’s “Carmen.”
On March 23, 2025, the orchestra will present “Echoes of Romance,” where pianist Frederick Moyer will take the spotlight for Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. The program will also include Tchaikovsky’s “Polonaise” from Eugene Onegin and the beloved “Swan Lake Suite.”
The season will conclude on May 25, 2025, with “Timeless Treasures,” showcasing Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto performed by principal bassoonist David Savage, alongside Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 and Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture.”
“I’m thrilled to bring some truly exceptional soloists to the stage with the Poway Symphony Orchestra this season,” said John LoPiccolo, conductor and music director for the PSO.
“Over the last 10 years it’s been exciting to lead the orchestra through a period of phenomenal growth both in terms of musical talent and repertoire,” he said. “It’s an honor to build on that history this season by continuing to showcase our orchestra and to bring more beautiful music to Poway and the north inland region of San Diego County.”
Tickets for the season opener in November will be available soon at powaycenter.com or by calling the box office at 858-748-0505.
