Temaki Bar rolls out shark-inspired specials for ‘Jaws’ 50th


If you love shushi, you’re in luck as Temaki Bar: Handroll, Sushi, Sake in Encinitas is celebrating the 50th anniversary of JAWS with a month-long menu of themed bites and drinks.
Located at 575 S. Coast Highway 101, a block from the historic La Paloma Theatre where the cult classic is showing, Temaki will feature a variety of appetizers, rolls, handrolls, nigiri, and beverages through September.
Highlights include a takoyaki plate topped with spicy mayo, eel sauce, and bonito ($12), seared bluefin tataki with lemon and truffle oil ($16), and specialty cut rolls like the SAGAT ($22), The Silver Slayer ($23), and Slow Your Roll ($25). Exclusive handrolls include the Y.G.N.A.B.B. ($13) and JAWesome ($12).
Nigiri offerings range from salmon with brown butter aioli and smoked salt to a snapper specialty with house koji and chives, each priced at $12. Drink specials include a Maru-Hi Citrus Seltzer ($8), Duckfoot Kook Slam IPA ($9), and Soonhari Apple Mango Soju ($18).
Temaki Bar, part of Clique Hospitality, was recently named Best of North County 2024 for sushi and seafood. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m. More information is available at www.TemakiBarSushi.com.
