The world comes to Comic-Con Museum: New exhibits announced at WonderCon

At a WonderCon panel, the Comic-Con Museum previewed two upcoming exhibits, one highlighting the artistic world behind the Mexican pro-wrestling form, lucha libre, and the other celebrating 20 years of Japanese-inspired art and collectibles with tokidoki.
The upcoming exhibits are:
- “Sangre, Sudor, Myth: The Art, Culture, and Heritage of Mexican Lucha Libre” – opening May 22; the showcase for the masked legends of Mexican culture marks the third binational exhibit the museum will open in collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego. The immersive exhibit will explore the rich tapestry of lucha libre, tracing its roots in indigenous traditions and mythology and its impact on popular arts and storytelling across mediums, such as movies, comics, graphic arts, and costuming.
- Tokidoki exhibit – opening June 30; tokidoki, which translates to “sometimes” in Japanese, is an internationally recognized lifestyle brand based on the vision of Italian artist Simone Legno and his partners, entrepreneurs Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold. Since debuting in 2005, tokidoki has amassed a cult-like following for its larger-than-life characters on products that include apparel, handbags, cosmetics, accessories, toys and more. The brand has had a big presence at Comic-Con for years.
The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday with the last entry at 4 p.m. Closed on Wednesdays. General admission is $30.
